An ode to California
One year after the most recent devastating destruction in Malibu, Palisades, Altadena and Pasadena, (and many other wildfire ravaged places in California), I reminisce and reflect about my time living the SoCal lifestyle…(I actually began writing these thoughts down prior to the events of January 2025 and felt it needed to be expressed now).
Those Pacific Ocean waves will always have my heart. I had the wonderful blessing of living in California and being a part of the ‘west coast best coast’ phenomenon. :) I will always remember how greatly this time spent in the golden state influenced me in regards to my career and overall mentality in life. As the rest of the world knows in theory, California dreaming is a reality. This state is known for its innovation, creativity, and abundance. The natural beauty found in Cali is simply breathtaking.
It’s no wonder why people flock to this state. All the celebrities and creatives end up living in California or spending extended amounts of time there. It is the place where the sun shines and pretty much any idea is a possibility that could be turned into fruition. One of the things I love about California is that you can be freely creative and there will be support for your innovative ideas. Anytime I check where something cool is made or designed, more often than not it will be California.
The tall palm trees reach for the stars, signalling to us that the sky is the limit. The majestic hills- ominous and dark, sharing their secrets and mystery with those who are curious to explore. The whole vibe of California is like taking a refreshing breath of air. It is this rush of gentle coolness that feels so fresh like walking through a forest while at the same time having the city vibes run alongside you. I just feel a sense of dreaminess when I am in California. It is truly this feeling that anything is possible and you can become everything you are meant to be.
The ocean brings waves of peace and solace and the sandy beach anchors and grounds you like nothing else. There is no comparison to all the magnificence that can be seen along the coastline. The visual aesthetic of every small and large city in California is simply beautiful. Bellissima! The mediterranean architecture and mod beach vibes just make me nostalgic to be in the city of angels.
Anything you can imagine and create, there will be someone cheering you on to support you with your vision. This is the land of creativity and dreams come true, it’s why ‘California Dreaming’ is a well known saying and a song that resonates so much on a winter’s day (like today’s snowstorm!).
The perpetual sunshine of LA everyday overrides everything. This place is truly a hotspot for diversity and happy vibes. The fact that it is sunny every day and you can enjoy being outside can shift any mood into a smile. Bright pink patches of bougainvillea flowers while zipping along the freeway, (or sitting in traffic), either way can make your day!
Going for a run along the beach or on the westside, the smell of jasmine wafts through the neighborhoods and delights my senses. It’s just so enchanting to see the unique architectural masterpieces that some lucky souls call home. There are so many hikes through canyons and walks discovering new neighborhoods that kept me busy every weekend while living there. My interest was piqued to explore so many of the areas surrounding Los Angeles and San Diego, and many other cities throughout Cali. I could go on and on but I will conclude with this...Cali is my fave!
